About Wormly
Wormly is a small and profitable software company located in Melbourne, Australia. We were founded by engineer / entrepreneur Julian Szemere, have no debt, and have required no external funding to commence operations, nor at any subsequent time.
We launched our uptime & server monitoring service in 2006 after nearly 12 months of development - and it remains our sole focus, having evolved with a great deal of feedback from our enthusiastic customers.
Some words from the founder
Let me tell you a little about why I created Wormly, and the value I want it to contribute to your business.
I've been developing complex web applications and managing web server infrastructure since 1999 - nearly 10 years now. Much of that time was spent working with leading online content publishers, where I gained experience with the performance and scalability issues arising in high traffic websites.
Like most web users, I'm regularly annoyed and amazed in equal parts when I encounter websites that are slow, or down altogether. Not blogs or photo albums, but bona fide e-commerce and major publishers' sites. Websites that stand to lose significant revenue to poor performance and downtime.
I decided to create Wormly upon realizing that poor performing websites are not generally caused by insufficient server capacity or related technical challenges, but rather a fundamental and pervasive lack of awareness.
The majority of small to medium online businesses have very little idea of what constitutes a "slow" website, or how they can objectively measure such. Worse, their website failures and downtime might go entirely unnoticed unless a visitor bothers to send them email informing them. This rarely happens - most visitors will head to an alternative site instead.
With awareness comes improvement, and just being able to answer the question: "What was your website uptime last month?" puts you on a path to improved website performance and availability.
